ENTERTAINMENTS.

THE EMPIRE. LAST NIGHT OF "FIREFLY OF TOUGH LUCK." ' People who say there can be nothing new introduced into western subjects should not fail to sec the "Firefly of Tough Luck," a Triangle picture which is showing linally at the. Empire to-niglit. "Tile Flame of the Yukon" was voted "some picture" hut it is no exaggeration to say that the "Firefly" puts it very much in the shade. The "Firefly" is just chock full of life arid action and 'not little healthy fun, and with a cast such as Alma Reubens, Walt Whitman ancl Charles Gunn, it reaches just about as (high a standard as possible for western draiiia. Its just a, good healthy, wholesome picture and no follower of Motion picture drama should miss the opportunity of viewing it to-night.

COMING TO-MORROW. OLGA PETROVA IN "THE LIGHT WITHIN." To-morrow and Saturday night Olga Petrova will star in the second of the pictures produced ,by her own company and released through the First National Exhibitors. As one writer describes it, ■this is a "tale of tragic intensity, thrilling and breathless, counting the minutes by heart throbs, with gorgeous gowns and druate settings." The screenings of this picture will be limited to to-inor-row and Saturday nights, only,

EVERYBODY'S. THEDA BM IN "HER GREATEST LOVE." The famous Fox leading lady, Theda Bara, who delighted a crowded house last week at Everybody's in her portrayal of file elder sister in "Heart and Soul/' will again star at the same theatre to-night and to-morrow in "Her Greatest Love;' a Fox super-feature adapted from Ouida's famous novel "Motlis." Those who spent such a delightful evening with Miss Bara last week will he pleased to know that she lias been even more popular in "Her Greatest Love" feature than last week's splendid picture. The novel has been so widely read that any reference to the story is unnecessary It is only needful 'to say that all the interest of the novel has been sustained and more than sustained by reason of the gripping scenes of the story being brought right before the eye. "Her Greatest Love" is one of those pictures that regular theatre goers will remember as one of the milestones in the advance of the motion picture. Amongst the supporting films there is the twelfth episode of the "Mystery of the Double Cross."

A FAMOUS MOTION PICTURE. "THE HONOR SYSTEM." The big point that gvies such' human interest to the Fox ten-reel story, "The Honor System.," to be shown at Everybody's nest Tuesday and Wednesday, comes from the innocence of the principal victim. But this is only what builds up the personal touch to the pathos of the tale. The film itself deals with the treatment of real human beings, even though they may be the breakers of petty laws, arid the problem laid bare to the light of day is one of sueh magnitude that it can scarcely fail of its aim, to arouse a wide circle of comment, even although this proposition ha 3 not quite such an intensified interest here as in the larger country, America, Tyhere "Tho Honor System" was pictured. It should ho a token of the power of the picture that Sir Robert Stout has paid attention to it, and so lhave Ministers, M.P.'s; and magistrates. The picture confines itself not to comment, but to the telling of a story that might easily have been an actual experience, though in parts the element of probability is iu«t a trifle stretched. But the mam' thing about "The Honor System" is this, that it is a toman document that covers the trials and the tribulations of a man summarily thrown into durance because a crime was committed, and put not under the direction of the powers that be, but rather tinder the direct control of one paid hireling who has all the powers of an autocratic tyrant over the unfortunates of his little community. A man has been killed and another mail is sentenced to a life term. He is cruelly ill-treated, for even though he might be a criminal he is also a man. A scheme of things called "The Honor System" is put into action to displace a business of 1 merciless cruelty, and according to the very powerful story contained in the picture tho results are good. George Walsdi and Gladys Broekwell are the bestknown people in the case for "The Honor Svstem, - ' but there are five other capable players to carry on the story, and they .ire all combined to give the picture a human touch that is indescribably interestinc. The mechanics of tihe picture, photograph, and settings, are good indeed, and the film itself creates a profound impression, though its tragic element overbalances a little the occasional humor. Full particulars a3 to box plan, etc., will be announced to-morrow.
