LABOR DAY ARRANGEMENTS.
Tiie arrangements for the Citizens' Band tanmui, to be held on Labor Day, October zS, »re now practically completed. lire chief items ior tiie day's programme are: —Monster procession of decorated vehicles, tradesmen's exhibits, etc, displays by various JiigUlaud dancing, motor-bike obstacle races and tilting at the ring, tug-ot'-war, children's races, and athletic eventsi Tiie side-sllows, under control of Andrew liooker and committee, will afford endless variety of amusements, and a novelty is being added calculated to produce much merriment in "Smite the Refreshment and afternoon tea stalls will be well in evidence, and patrons can rest assured of all wants on this head being amply provided for- The evening arrangements should prove very effective. The procession from town to the park in itself will be well worth seeing. Mr Brooker, while in Auckland recently, was fortunate in being able to procure some 200 Chinese lanterns. These will be carried in the procession, and those fortunate enough to have one will take part in the grand march on the sports ground. Arrangements are being made to distribute these, and will in due course be made public Theli there will be the masqueraders. Weverai substantial prizes have already been donated for the four best original costumes (take-offs or freaks) Judgine the enthusiasm displayed at last night's meeting at East End in regard to the Tin-can Band, this portion of the procession will .be worth while seeing or hearing. While on this topic, East End is fortunate in having Mr. BennocVs services, and if those gentlemen who are able to do so will attend nt Kawaroa to-night at. seven. West End boys will be enabled to attempt to out-do East End in makina: tuneful harmony on carnival night- Tn the procession, too, will h,i the Eire Brigade, and, of courae, the Citizens' Band.
