A LITTLE PREVIOUS. CELEBRATIONS OF SUPPOSED PEACE. Sydney, Oct. 15. The misinterpretation of Germany's acceptance of President iWlson's points into her surrender caused much excitement in various cities and laughable developments in Me country. The Newcastle miners celebrated the supposed peace by taking oMnday off. At, Goulbourn the sewerage employees and many other works made a holiday] and some business places were closed. At atßhurst the joy bells were run:: and crowded paraded the streets till midnight. Newspaper offices everywhere were deluged with inquiries, crowds awaiting the posting of news. Press and public feeling in the Commonwealth is steadily hardening against anything short of Germany's complete surrender.—Aus. N.Z. Cable Assoc. GENERAL PAU AND PEACE. Melbourne, Oct. 15. Referring to the peace terms, General Pan said: "No armistice is possible which does not include the prior condi- j tion of the evacuation of the invaded j territory and Alsace-Lorraine. In sanctioning! a variation of the clerks' award in the Federal Arbitration Court, Mr. Justice Powers expressly ex. eluded eligible single men receiving £132 yearly from the benefits of the judgment, stating that eligible men without dependents who had not enlisted must bp regarded as non-unionists.
