SHIP'S FIREMAN DROWNED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Oct. 12. William Farrow, a steamer's fireman, aged 2G, fell from the ship's gangway and was drowned. His companion, wlio fell with Farrow, was rescued. SERIOUS ACCIDENT TO JOCKEYS. Christchurch, Oct. 12. B. Lansdown and J. Patterson, whilst, training horses at Riccarton to-day, were thrown to the ground and seriously injured, having to be taken to hospital. Lansdown is still unconscious, and Patterson is only semi-conscious. RAILWAYMAN'S SUICIDE. Chriptchurch, Oct. 12. David Clyde, a railway employee, residing at Stanley Street, Sydenham, "was found dead, hanging by the nock to a bedpost, in his house to-day. He had been complaining of bad health, ana yesterday he stated that unless he improved his condition woiild drive him out of his mind.
