HAWEKA SITTINGS. A' sitting of the First Wellington Military Service Board was held at the Hawera Courthouse on Monday. Newport Sydney White, schoolmaster, [Tututawa, Stratford—Leave granted till Feburary draft, to enable appellant to sit for teachers' examinations held in 'January. John E. Hills,' slaughterman, Patea, employers' appeal. Decision reserved. Arthur James WatSori, ch'eesemaker, Okaiawa, voluntary recruit. ■ Appollant was a single mail and was first assistant in the Joll Company's main factory. He had been with the company for three years. The company had asked him to appeal He twice enlisted in Auckland when war broke out, and was turned down. He again enlisted in Hawera in June or July last. The Bq;ard announced that as the dairy company had not seen fit to appeal for the appeal would be dismissed and leave granted till the November draft. ' Percy C. Hill, grocer's' assistant, Patea (re-hearing). Appellant was a single man, and belonging to the Brethern, appealed on religious grounds, The chairman announced that it had already been decided that members of jtho Brcthcn were not exempt."
