Lynsnar, of Gisbome, addressed a meeting of Southland farmers, at the invitation of the A. and P. Association and ihe Farmers' Union. There was, he said, no desire to. obtain extra monetary .consideration for the full period of the v. ar and for three months after. Ho referred to a letter he had written to Sir James Allen, asking the Government to make "a public statement, and the o:sly reply was that the Government, in trying to arrange the extension for 12 months from June 30 following the cessation of hostilities, was meeting the desire of the majority of wheat and wool growers. Mr. Lvsnar said that old stockings and rags were selling in England for more than double New Zealand clean wool was fetching, and according to a Boston official, New Zealand wool was worth 4s 2d to 7s 3d. After hearing Mr. W. J. Hunt, who 'opposed Mr. Lysnar's arguments, the meeting resolved that when the Imperial war requirements were satisfied tlie commandeer should stop three months after the war. The meeting ako decided that the Government should consult with the producers instead of, a3 at present, with the commercial men and freezing company directors.
