; &.J.O. MEETING. JIETKOrOLITAX DAY.; (Received Oct, 7, 5.5 p.m. Sydney, Oct. 7: The weather was dull and showery, but the attendance was large and the going good. In the absence of Kilmoon, the Clibborn Stakes looked a good thing for Almoner, but Killowen, ridden by O'Shea, was never headed. On Saturday's brilliant run, Poitrel shared favoritism with Kennaquahairfor the Metropolitan Handicap, but was never prominent. Destroyer made the pace, and Prince Viridis looted like the winner, but at the distance Kennaquhair, by a brilliant run, swamped the opposition. Arch Marella ran a good race. Estland finished sixth, with Bee further back. Kilraoon was considered never to be a certainty in the Squatters'' Handicap, never being among the leaders. Ha finished fifth ,and Silent Way fourth. Results:— is' THE SHORTS HAMDIOAP.—WoIaroi, 97, 1; France, 7.2, 2; Balarang, 9.3, 3. Fifteen including Kilhope and Lingerie. Won by two and a-half lengths. There wera 29 starters, including Bee and Estland. Publican ai\d Destroyer were the first to show out. The order, when passing the stand, was: Destroyer, Publican, Quaestor, Lord Acre, and Bee, and this order was maintained. Destroyer was first into the straight, but Prince Viridis forged to the" front- At the distance Kennaquhair made a great run, overhauled the leaders, and won by two lengths and a-half; two lengths separated second and third. Time, 2rain 31Jsec- A protest against the winner was dismissed. FIRST STEEPLE.—Junlgawillah, 10.7, 1; Compromise, 10.13, 2; St. Elmn, 11.7, . There were 10 starters, but only the placed horses finished. Won by 12 lengths. Time, umin 21 sec.
