• AUSTRALIANS SEVERELY COUNTER-ATTACKED. London, Oct. 6. Sir Douglas Haig reports: There was Btubborn fighting all day at Montbrehain and Beaurevoir. Having captured the former early in the morning with 500 prisoners, the Australians were selverelv counter-attacked. After making progress in the daytime by hard fighting, the English in the evening reattached and carried the village, establishing their line firmly eastward and north-eastward. North of Beaurevoir we took possession of Aubencheul-aux-Bois and established ourselveß on the high ground northwards towards Lesdines.
