AMERICAN VESSEL LOST. ... ■ New York, Oct. 3. The Tampa was engaged on convoy duty on September 26 in the Bristol Channel when a torpedo is believed to hav« struck her. The explosion caused her to sink before there was a possibility of rescuing a single man on board. A quantity of wreckage was discovered later. Ten American officers were on board. One British and five civilian employpes were also drowned.—AusN.Z. Cable As»nNew York, Oct. 4. The Navy Department announces the loss by collision of the American steamer Herman Frascb.
