BRITISH WILL RE-OCCUPY / BAKU. DAMASCUS A RICH PRIZE. Received Oct. 8, 5.5 p.m. New York, Oct. 4. I The New York Times' Washington (correspondent states that it is reported from diplomatic news sources that the British will probably re-occupy Baku. ' The New York Times, commencing on the capture of Damascus, says: "It is a rich prize of the British, who will know how to protect its people and develop, I their industrial resources without infringing on their personal liberty _or i meddling 'with their faith. Sanitation and education will receive the immediate attention of the invaders. In the coming winter .there will be more progress in Damascus than there has been for the past generation."—Aus. N.Z. The Daily News' Zurich correspondent states that Berlin is sending alternate streams of lavish promises and violent threats to Constantinople, The Entente diplomacy is'active. Ten thousand deserters at Constants nople sent an ultimatum to Talaat Pasha and Enver Pasha to resign. The Ministers sent troops to disperse the deserters. A pitched battle followed.
