PINAL TRAINING NOTES. ; Sydney, Oct. 2. A big gathering witnessed the finals, including Mr. Lowry. The weather was fine and the tracks were fast. The course proper was used. Desert Gold, with QJConnor up, covered seven furlongs in free style in linin 30sec, the half-mile taking 80% se- (Dick Meagher did a mile in Imin 46% sec; Almoner, one mile and a-quarter in 2min 17see. Kilmoon accompanied him for a mile run in lmin SOsec. Gloaming (O'Connor) finished a length ahead of Biplane, after six furlongs, in lmin WJsec, neither of them all out. Bee did ten furlongs in 2min 18% sec. Cagou, nine furlongs in 2min Isec; Finmark foeat Killowen by three lengths over seven furlongs in lmin 31sec; Outlook (Lewis) did «even furlongs in lmin 34|sec; Wola roi beat Eastcourt and KiUbarron by 3 lengths in a mile run in lmin 46sec; Kennequhair did a mile in lmin 50sec; Estland did one mile and a-quarter in 2min Publican covered an easy mile in lmin- Slsec. HAKATARAMEA HANDICAP.-2 Spyglass 1, 4 Bomb 2, 6 Red River 3. Also started: 3 Bell Rock, 1 Zephland, 5 Belgian King. Won by a length. Time, limn 16sec.
KUROW HANDICAP.-2 Linden 1, 6 John Barleycorn 2, 8 Subterfuge 3. Also started: 4 Bellshire, 3 Roumania, 1 Tremena, 5 All Ready, 7 Marianne, 9 Kazan, Won by a short length. Time, lmin 30sec. WAITANGI STEEPLECHASE. —5 Rolling Tide 1, 2 Kaupokonui 2. The only horses to finish. Also started: 1 Merrie Lad, 4 Dardanelles, 3 Modditc. All fell, the latter breaking a leg and having to be destroyed. Time, 4min 34sec.
WAITAKI HANDICAP TROT.-2 Sashwood 1, 1 Calliope 2, 3 Young Star Pointer 3. Won by two lengths. Time, 3min 41sec.
TRIAL PLATE.—3 Canamana 1,4 Link Lp 2, 1 Lady Superior 3. Also started: 7 Darby Sam, 5 Moneymusk, 2 Killiney, C Russett. Won easily. Time, 50sec.
