AVERAGE RECORDS OF BREEDS. The following is from the American Farmer:— The U.S.A. Farmers' Bulletin 893, from compilations of registry records, makes the comparison of the average yearly production of five breeds as shown in the following table:—

Harold Abrahamson, president of the Friesland Cattlebreeders' Association of ■South Africa, in a, w.eent letter from Bloemfontein, Orange Free State, reports that the prices of Friesland cattle have advanced 100 per cent during the past twelve months; several hulls having brought £IOOO each and one selling for over £1250 Cows have been fetching up to £550 each; higher prices than this having ibeen refused. Mr Abrahamson also states in his letter that official milk records have been instituted by the society, but only on the 300-day basis. Here is the sort of testimony that makes the heart, glad:—Dean Beeman, of Woodland, California, writing of his experiences with Jerseys to Friesians, says:—"l am so thankful I made the change from Jerseys to Friesians, but feel very sorry that I lost four years in breeding- The three cows that I have just tested gave me more milk and butterfat than the 14 Jersey cows that I was milking four years ago, and they were on test the very worst seven days we have had this winter. For one to appreciate a Friesian cow he must have Jerseys first in order to he able to note the actual difference in production." Put your hands together, ''brudders!."
