THE RULES DISPUTE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Oct. 2. The Management Committee of the Wellington Rugby 'Uniion met with the hope of seeing an-end of titfe protracted wrangle respecting Jhe playing" of the Auckland v. Wellington game. An inquiry was to have been :tcld, but no players turned up to he examined. The matter was further adjourned until next week. The players concerned are to be notified meanwhile that they must attend the coming meeting.

QUESTION 0!F (PROFESSIONALISM. Christchureh, Oct. 2. A meeting of the committee of the Canterbury Rugby Union was held last night. Tlie president (Mr. F. T. Evans) said that after the Wellington team had visited Christchureh a Wellington official had said that Canterbury was ripe for professionalism. He wished to say that this was absolutely incorrect, though Canterbury had taken an active part in agitating certain reforms- There had never heen any suggestion of paying men for playing. After the discussion, it was decided' that the majtter of replying to the allegation be left to the president.

Mr. Evans said he had received a suggestion from Auckland that a special meeting of New Zealand unions foe held to discuss the amended rules, and Canterbury was asked to send a request He was of opinion that a special meeting should not be called unless there was a chance of a full meeting, and he thought they had better wait until the annual meeting.

The following Rover B's are to take part in a practice match at the Recreation Grounds to-day (Thursday), at 3 p.m., when a team will be pocked to play Stratford Cadets on Thursday, October 10: Stohr, Bedford, Rowlands, Wood, Singh, Cocker, Way, Ward, Hoskin, Hooker, Loveridge, Bayly, Reynolds, Kibby, Hoffmann, Jenkins, Whittle, Eyre, Hughes, McLean, Roberts, Hall, Pellew.
