Stratford, Sept. 30. At the Town Hall on Thursday, OctO' ber 10, tlie Stratford Municipal lire Brigade intend holding a plain and fancy dress ball in aid of their funds. The committee are making every efl'ort to make the function one of the moot enjoyablo in the history of the ibrigade.. Substantial prizes are being offered for the waltzing competition, whilst valuable trophies will be awarded as prizes, for It is satisfactory to notice that the public has donated sufficient cash to purchase the self-propelling chair necessary for a Stratford Hospital patient, fiavigan. A gift that is very acceptable just now is the wristlet watch. This is the ideal present for the soldier leaving for the trenches, but it is also a very handy watch for civilian life.
