The directors intend to ask shareholders at a special meeting on October 3 for permission to seek a fresh charter to enable the bank to operate outside Australia and New Zealand.—Aus. and N.Z. Cable Assoc. I DESTRUCTIVE FOREST FIRES. Received Sept. 20, 7.50 p.m. Rome, Sept. 25. Forest fires are raging in Sardinia. Thousands are homeless. The damage amounts to six million lire.
