BELL BLOCK. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The daffodil tea and euchre party and dance, hold last week for the benefit of the funds of the local Ladies' Sewing Guild and Plrarcli Hut, Fund, was the most successful function ever held here. The particularly fine blooms, of which there was a great quantity, ' -1 been tastefully displayed by Messrs Vote and Street, and were much admired by the large number of persons who visited the show. Flowers ,were received from a number of New Plymouth growers, also Stratford and Ngaere, besides local ones. In his opening remarks, Mr. J. S. Connett referred to the good work carried on by the guild, which commenced in 1915, and expressed his surprise and pleasure at the display of flowers in the hall that afternoon. He wished the ladies success in their work and in their endeavor to raise the amount that they desired. During the afternoon musical items were given by Mrs. and Miss Marlow, and a Highland dance by Miss Mcßae. This young lady's efforts were rewarded by contributions to the fluids of £1 8s 3d, and in the evening £2 4s Cd was thrown on the stage. The severalstalls for the sale of work, produce, and sweets, as well as the afternoon tea-room, were well patronised. The euchre party and dunce in the evening was also attended by a large number of people. Tbc prizes for euchre were won by Mrs. Koller (lady's handbag donated by Mr. H. Penwarden), who played off' with Mrs. Hardy, and Mrs. J. H. Street (silver-mounted pocketbook), who played as a gent. The total receipts exceeded £7l, which was very gratifying to all concerned. Over £lO was raised by guessing competitions. The ladies of the district deserve great credit for the way in which the arrangements were carried out, and are to be congratulated on the result of their wor"

TAEIKI. (From Our Own Correspondent.)' All Tariki and surrounding district mustered strongly for the children's fancy dress ball held here last Friday. The floor was crowded with liappy children, who were decked out in costumes quaint, original, and always attractive. The music was provided free by the Wilson family orchestra, and the duties of M-C. entrusted to Mr. Richards. Great rivalry existed for the prizes, but the judges—Mesdames .T. Knowles, sen., R. Hoskiri, ftnft H. Kerr—were unable to make awards, all the kiddies being so well balanced in merit. The young dancers were:—Girls: C. Trcwin (Britannia), I- Cowley (Japanese lady), G.
