CURTAILMENT OF PABER. Received Sept. 24, 11 p.m. > Melbourne, Sept. 24. A private conference of newspaper proprietors and the Paper Controller discussed the curtailment of paper. Mr. Watt, speaking at the annual conference of the Women's National League, reiterated his warning that much heavier taxation was coming. The Budget must find six and a half million for war pensions, interest and sinking fund. They must reduce the consumption of paper and limit the importation of petrol. POLICE GRIEVANCES. Adelaide, Sept. 24. The Government has refused to investigate the police grievances until the three hundred resignations have been withdrawn.
