Northwards of this locality a hostile counterattack entered our portions at one point, where a party of the enemy 'is still holding nut. Elsewhere the attack was repulsed. Sir Douglas Haig', aviation t states:-In overcast and showery weather, we dropped 11 tons of bombs and destroyed eight hostile machines. Four of ours are missing. Our night-fliers dropped four tons of bombs oh an enemv aerodrome iftar Valenciennes. All of our machines returned.-Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assoc- and Reifter.

Sir Douglas Haig reports: There were successful minor operations on Sunday at several points. The English troops captured a strong point in the neighborhood of Rousseyboug road. A counterattack was repulsed with heavy enemy loss. We also progressed in the direction df Tomboise farm and captured a group of strongly held trenches and strong points at Saeur, north-west of Vendhuile.' The English east of Gavrelle progressed three-quarters of a mile on a mile front. • The enemv, under a heavy barrage, penetrated "the line at Berthaucourt at one point.
