DEARER MEAT. London, Sept. 22. Mr. Clynes, Food Controller, addressing a conference of 200 officials of Labor organisations explained that the further advance of 2d per lb in the price of meat was due to the shipping shortage shutting out Australasian supplies and allowing only the importation of North American meat, where the cost of production was higher than in Australasia.
