DAIRY MANAGERS' WAGES. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Invercargill Sept. 21. As a, result of the conference between tho South Island Dairy Association and tho Factory Managers' Union, an agreement was reached that the present rates of pay staud, bnt that a war bonus of 10 per cent, be increased to 15 per cent, for grades 1 to 5, and to 20 per cent, for grades (I to 10. Wages range from £402 for factories making oyer 500 tons to £4 a week under 30 tons. The agreement, which will be made into an award, has a currency of three years or six months after peace, whichever is first. KILLED BY FALL OF CLAY. Palmerston N., Sept. 21. A single man named Wm. Jones, aged 4S years, who was injured by a fall of clay in a local brickworks on Wednesday, died at the hospital this morning. INVESTITURE AT CHRISTCHURCH. Christchurch, Sept. 21. The Govemor->General held an investiture of tho Order of the British Empire to-day. The following were recipients of decorations: —Commander of the Order, Lady Ward; officers, Mrs. Fanny Boyle, Mrs. Jane Holland, Mrs. Agnes V. Wigram;, Messrs Henry Holland and A. E. G. Rhodes; members, Mrs. Florence Guiness (Timaru), Mrs. Kate Cleaver (Westport), Dr. E. G. Levinge, Messrs Donaldson and F. J. Trelevan. WELLINGTON TRAMWAYS. Wellington, Sept. 21. ! Another phase of the tramway trouble arose this morning, a go-slow policy being put into practice. Tho cars are all running late to their destinations, and it is also reported that some conductors are not collecting tho fares and are in other ways neglecting their duty.
