| THE EMPIRF RETURN OF MABEL NORMAND IN " THE FLOOR BELOW." "The Floor Below" is a fine storv and a fine picture, but this is not the' main point regarding it. It is aUo a Goldwyn, but even this is not the mo3t interesting tiling. What makes a feature of unusual appeal is the fact that Mabel -Wmaml, after an absence from the screen of nearly two years, re-appears to delight Dominion audiences. ' The Floor Below"' is a story of a newspaper girl who gets discharged for skylarking, but is given another :haiice, provided she can achieve a difficult commission' for her paper. Wiiat this commission is need not be told. Suffice that it leads her into some very dramatic situations, in which love plays an important part. The story is good, holding the interest at a high tension right through, and with sufficient humor to give Mabel full scope in this direction. "The Floor Below" commences a three-night season at the Empire to-night, and the supporting films will include the third episode of rue Rusliman-Bayne serial, ''The Great Secret." r EVERYBODY M.ST NIGHT OF "IX THE BALANCE." At Everybody's to-night the feature is a VitaTrnph drama, "In the Balance," a story of thrills and excitement. "In the Balance" centres round the love of an unconventional fellow—a modern man with the instincts of a cave man, in fact—for a. dancing girl. The plot is powerful, and the settings are right The supporting pictures also are distinctly good, and include a splendid travel picture, "A Trip Through Hawaii," the Topical Budget, a Triangle comedy. "Dad's Downfall." and another of those remarkable Fox-feature comedies. entitled "Bing To-night is the final occasion on which this selection can be shown.
