HARBOR BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING, The monthly meting of the 2?ew Plymouth Harbor Board was held yesterday. The chairman (Mr Newton King) presided and there were also present: Messrs C. E. Bellringer, J. McCluggage, J. S. Connett, C. A. Wilkinson, M.P., 0. MoGumess, E. Maxwell and D. J. Hughes. HARBORMASTER'S REPORT. The harbormaster (Capt. W. Waller) reported that for the period ended September 14th, 27 vessels of an aggregate tonnage of 19,800 tons had entered the port, The imports amounted to 8724 tons and the exports to 2089 tons; and <SOO tons of Government coal had been landed. The American barque, Thrasher, discharged a total of 829 tons of cargo, and loaded 521 tons, and sailed for San Francisco direct on September 4. t SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT. The works' superintendent (Mr F. Henderson) reported: The Paritutu on 27 days as follows .-At tli: second inshore cut (10 feet) 0 days, lifting 7% loads equal to L'loo tons, also 78 tons of boulders equal to 41 tons. At the outer basin cut (25ft), 12 daya, lifting 7i loads equal to 2900 tons and 190 boulders, equal to 158 tui.3 As (he west fairway cut, 9 days, lifting 22 loads equal to 8,800 tons. The total quantities removed equalled 13,800 tons, and 109 boulders. Owing to the supply of explosives running out work at the inshore cutting has been discontinued, and these moorings were lifted ai d re-laid on the west fairway cut on the 3rd instant, where the dredge lias since worked continuously; uie day was occupied in shifting moorings and two days' dredging were lost through bad weather. The Thomas King dredged on 23 days, removing 138 loads, equal to 11.040 tons of spoil and 24 boulders, averaging in weight one ton each. Three days were occupied in boiler repairs and four days were lost through had weather General.— Twenty new chafing pieces have been attached to the wharf and coal bins, and the railway line to Mikotahi, which was damaged by the fiale in March Ist, has been repaired, and the repairs to Simpson's hou&e have been completed to his satisfaction. GENERAL. A leter was received from the W'hangamoraona County Council asking the board to arrange metings in tlieir district for the purpose of explaining the proposals for the improvement of the harbor, with a view to the district being included in the harbor rating area. The chairman stated that a meeting had been held at Kohuratahi and arrangements were being made for other meetings. The matter was left in the hands of the chairman and Mr McCluggage. Accounts amounting to £1287 3s 5d were passed for payment.
