Miss Crossan won the tival>y for moat original costume, "Totaliimlor," a popular verdict, the Mayor humorously remarking that he intended to have a waltz with "the road to ruin." Miss Cathie (witch) was a good second Mr. A- Coleman, Pukengahu, also scored a popular win with his costume (Copper Trail). Another unique costume was that of Mr. Sid. Ward as a Maori chief. The convenience of dancers and spectators was considered in every manner. The orchestra were heard to advantage at the entrance to the hall, the stage •being reserved for non-dancers. Besides the presentation of the trophies for costumes, the Stratford Football dub's captain (Mr. B. Kivell) was presented with a banner of the club's colors, made 'jy the Stratford schoolgirls. The ban- i rier was hoisted before the public several . times before finally going tu the club, Mr. E Cottier being the auctioneer. The players made a presentation of a photograph of the teams to Mr. .J. Tizard, for the interest he had taken in the club. Nurse Cameron has already had a lengthy experience as a Red Cross nurse, and her numerous friends here all hope to hear of her speedy recovery. The Toko ladies will have control of . the Mart and Tea Rooms to-morrow (•Saturday). The Ladies' Patriotic Committee will he very pleased to receive goods of all descriptions from sympathisers with the war workers- Tho-'! who have snare books, photo frames, vegeta'' rake', etc., will find theft gifts i, ■ acceptable. Stratford footballers arj very fortunate.
