THE EMPIRE. ETHEL BARRYMORE AS "EGYPT" IN "THE CALL OF lIER PEOPLE." "The Call of Her People,'' which opens ft two night season at the Empire tonight is of one of the series of specially released Metro productions of size and lavishucss. It is a seven' part dramatic picture of great force arid beauty, with some wonderfully brilliant spectacular scenes. No expense .has hien spared in making it a truly magnificent pro* duction, and brains, art, and talent have been expended in making it an artistic and striking picture. Miss Ethel Barrymore is better stiited-in this play than any. in which we have'seen her appear, and she herself considers ib<the greatest of her career. . LAST . NIGHT OF THEDA BARA AS "THE DARLING OF 'PARIS." In "The Darling of Paris," which is a Fox film realisation of the Victor Hugo story "The Hunchback of Notre Dame." Theda Bara has the big part. In this picture she acts as Esmeralda, the dancing girl who is so winsome and wily that she becomes the idol of mediaeval Pans. "The Darling of Paris" is a powerful picture of the manners and customs aud people of a. century ago. The supports include another episode of the exciting serial the "Mystery of the Double Cross" and a fine G&umont GrapWc. To-night will be the final screening of this programme. TO-MORROW. . GRACE DARMOND IN "IN THE BALANCE," A new star actress described as the most remarkable beauty the screen has yet captured, named Grace Darmond, will star to-morrow with Earle Williams in a gripping Vitagraph feature, t'ln the Balance."
