WELLINGTON TRAMWAYS.
AN OUTER DECLINED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Sept- 18. A conference of Tramway Union representatives and City Couucil_ officials considered the men's demands. The council made certain proposals which, it is understood, include better terms than those already published, but the men's representatives decline to accept them, holding out for a minimum wage of lCd p«r hour with proportionate increases to the more highly paid men. The offer remains open till 3 o'clock this afternoon. Wellington, Last Night. The tramway trouble advanced a further stage this afternoon at a special meeting of the City Council, when the tramways manager reported that the union had declined his offer to recommend a bonus of 10 per cent, on the ordinary time wages. The council was advised that the men's refusal to work overtime was a breach of agreement, and accordingly it was decided to call upon the men to carry out their duties in terms of the agreement.
