MESSAGES OF SYMPATHY.

Mrs. Okey and family have received messages of sympathy from all parts of the Dominion.

Mr. J. W. McMillan, Mayor of Stratford, wires:—Please accept from the people of Stratford deepest sympathy with yourself and family in your sad bereavement."

Mr. T. B. Crump, Mayor of Eltham, wires:—''l assure you of the sincere sympathy of the people of Eltham for you and your family in your and the country's loss."

The Right Hon. W. F. Massey, Premier, cabled from Ottawa:—"Heartfelt sympathy yourself and family in your great sorrow."

Mr. F W Lang, M.P. (Speaker), Wires:—''l was very grieved to hear tho sad news of the death of my old friend, a::d I tender my sincere sympathy." Sir James Allen hopes it will be somp consolation to the family to know that their sorrow is shared by all the late Mr. Okey's colleagues in Parliament, where he was ?.o deservedly popular, and also by his many friends outside Parliament.

Mr. J. G. Anderson. M.P.', says that Mr. Okey was one of the finest characters he has ever met. He lived a good life, fought a good fight, and has finished his' course with the thanks and appreciation of all who knew him. The Hon. Arthur Myers, in a messa.ge of sympathy, says he trusts chat the knowledge that the late Mr. Okey was so universally liked and respected by all those who came in contact with him will help in some small way to assuage your great sorrow. The Hon. J. A. Hanan, Minister of Education, in a wire of sympathy from Mrs. Hanan and himself, says:—"The late Mr. Okey has left behind him a record of valuable public serv'ce." Mr. E. Newman, M.P.. ?■• < (bat he knew no man who did his duty in Parliament better than the late Mr. Okey did. and he will bo sorely missed in the Hou?e." The Mayor of Wellington wires: "Deeply regret death of your dear husband His conscientious, energetic work won for him the Dominion's confidence and esteem. You and your family have many sorrows these dark Jays." The Rev J. Dawson wires:—''New Zealand Alliance executive deeply sympathises with you in your Sad loss. May God be generous to you."

Wilfoid (Minister of Justice), Hon. 0 IV. Pussell (Minister of Public Health): Hon. 0 Rn.ni'r-1, M.L.C.. and Mrs.Samuel, and practically every member of Parliament, have also forwarded telegrams of condolence, whilst scores of wires and letters have been received from friends in different parts
