CONSTRUCTION OF INDUSTRIES. POWERFUL BANKS NEEDED. London, Sept. 15. Sir Edward Holden, addressing the shareholders of the London and Midland Bank, stated that £300,000,000 would be required after the wax to finance the construction of industries, the 'purchase of raw materials, tad the expansion of trade. Powerful amalgamated banks wore more thaai ever needed to meet the new requirements and to maintain London as the world's centre of finance. Germany was extensively amalgamating her banks as a preparation for financial war. The British must build up their credit and make importations of gold, of which the world's production was declining.—Times, COTTON SPINNERS' STRIKE. London, Sept. 15. The Lancashire and Yorkshire spinners have struck. Upwards of 50,000,000 spindles will be idle to-morrow, and if the strike is prolonged it will affect half a millioa workers.
