FUTURE OF SAMOA. Received Sept. 13, 9.30 pm. Melbourne, Sept. 13. Speaking at Bendigo, Mr. Watt, referring to the menace of the German possessions in the Pacific, advocated handing over the Islands to a friendly Power Mr. Manson, New Zealand Commissioner, commenting thereon, said that, although he had no official information regarding the New Zealand Government's views, be was thoroughly convinced there was a strong desire in New Zealand to retain control of Samoa.— Ans- J N.Z.
