INGLEWOOD. % (From Our Own Correspondent.) There was a large crowd at the station on Wednesday morning to witness the departure of the 40th Reinforcement from Inglewood. The Patriotic Committee was well represented, and Mrs Gow, or. behalf of the ladies committee, presented each recruit with a parcel of comforts, and three hearty cheers were given as the train left the' station. Tils' following is a list of the men who presented themselves: Messrs R. /Lymes, C. Bovctt, F. Burr, R. Buchanan, D. E.sarr, J, Egarr, ,C. James, and F. Hamhlvn

Feakins is the latest addition to our local roll of honor, already a lengthy list for so small n village. The late Gunner Feakins was the third son of Mr and Mrs W. Feakius, and had seen four years of service at the front. Much sympathy is felt for the bereaved parents and family. Another brother, Claude, has been at the front a considerable time, and Albert and Henry have just gone into camp. The junior scholars at the school gave a little concert on Friday afternoon preceding the holidays. The audience, consisting of the senior boys and girls, much enjoyed the items submitted by the little ones, who acquitted themselves in great style. Afterwards the "hat" was passed aropnd, the sum of £1 being realised for the "copper tr^il." On Saturday evening it was decided at a public meeting to hold on Thursday. October 17th, a patriotic bazaar and en tertainment in aid of the Y.M.C A. Several committees were set up to make the necessary arrangements, of which more anon.

On Tuesday evening a party of his .neighbours descended on our genial [friend, Mr Fred Crowe, who is going into camp shortly. A pleasant evening warspent, everyone of the visitors contributing song, speech, or recitation. Mr Tlios. Paul, on behalf of the visitors, conveyed to Mr Crowe the good wishes of his neighbours, at the same time handing him a handsome wristlet watch. In connection with the fete mentioned above, the ladies of the district arc 'asked to meet at Mrs If. B. Lepper's on Tuesday, 17th September, at 3 p.m., for further discussion. " TARIKL ....... _ (From Our Own Correspondent.) Tariki, Sept. 12. Yesterday was a big day here, when a wedding' that .attracted considerable attention was celebrated, the contracting parties being Mr. G- W\ Kilsby. a returned soldier, and Miss Ruth Lawrence, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs A. E. Lawrence. The Rev. A. Harvie (Inglewood) was the officiating minister. At Ihe close of the ceremony, the bridal party and friends, numbering 88, adjourned to the Tariki Hall, where the weddinq breakfast was served. Several toasts were v" ln wh at the conclusion of which Mr. and Mrs. Kilsby motored to Wansamii where the.honeymoon is being spent. The wedding gifts were numerous, testifying to the popularity of the contracting couple. .. Tariki folks arc having another function to-morrow evening, when they are farewellinsr two men up on final leave. It would be interesting to have a list of thp names of the men who have answered the call from Tariki and surrounding districts.
