N.Z. Cable Assoc. GERMANS AWAKENING TO TRUE POSITION. New York, Sept. 4. Mr. Cyril Brown, formerly a correspondent in Berlin, says the German people realise that the super-blow of the militarists for peace and victory has been struck in the west and has completely failed, probably marking Germany's lastserious attempt to win a decision on the west front. Tlie Germans are beginning to fear that a real war may break out again in Russia, and the spectre of two war fronts haunts them like a nightmare. Tlie people are beginning to realise that Germany has not a friend in ihe world, and they are also losin? faith in the nindcnburg-Ludendorff combination. The people now understand something cf the pace at which America is changing the balance of man-power against Germany. It is certain that the more democratic representatives in the Reichstag will not knuckle down to the dictatorship of militarism much longer. I anticipate that the most acute political crisis of the war will occur in Germany in the near future.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Association.
