Last Thursday, at the East End Pavilion, a committee of old boys of Nelson College gave a delightful dunce, in honor of the Neison lim hitcen football team, which was visiting New jfiymoutti. EVENINQ PARTY, Ou Friday evening Miss Wade entertained a number of Miss Keuha Leatham'a friends, and the competition—each guest representing a Christian name—caused a good deal of amusement. Courtenay gave a very enjoyable handkerchief and d'oyley afternoon tea Jh honor of Miss K. Leathaiu, last Thursday afternoon. The guessing competition was, won by Misses B. Crooke and Cuttleld. The fioral decorations in the drawing-room and dining-room were masses of cherry-plum and almond blossoms. The hostess received her guests in a molecolored crepe de cnlne, llgntly trimmed with cream lace. Amongst those present were Mesuames Addenbrooke, Bullock, Kyngdon, Cuttleld, Daniels, E. Shaw, P. G. Nicholson, E. P. Blundeil, Heather, A. Rennell, Collins and Miss Bayly. PERSONAL. Misses K. and C. Penn, who have been on a lengthy visit to Wellington, have returned. Mrs. Percy Pritchard (Dannevirke) arrives on Tuesday, when she will be the guest of her father (Dr. Leatham). Mrs. Standish, who has been the guest cf Mrs. Maurice Standish, Tarata, has returned. Miss Shiilington (Auckland) is the Miss Stephenson-Smith. Miss Deane, of the New Plymouth telepliono exchange, is on a visit to Hawera. Miss B. King has returned from her short visit to Wellington, where she went to meet her brother (Captain Elliot King), who has returned from Egypt on furlough. Miss Rennell, who has been on a visit to Rotorua, has returned. Miss Lorna'Leatham (Auckland) is the guest of Mrs. W. Cutfield, Fitzroy. Mrs. Rollo is on a visit to Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. Dockrill are on a visit to Rotorua and Te Aroha. Mrs. Sutherland (Wanganui) is on a short visit to New Plymouth. Mrs. Rogers, who has been the guest of her sister (Mrs. E. Griffiths, Fltzroy) has relumed to Hamilton. The engagement is announced in The Auckland Weekly News of Mr. W. Deans, third son of Mrs. Deans (Riccarton), to Miss Russell daughter of Major-General Sir A. Russell and Lady Russell, of Hawke's Bay.
