BANK AMALGAMATION.
NATIONAL AND COLONIAL (UNITED. Melbourne, Aug. 22, The directorates of the National and Colonial Hanks of Australasia have drafted a scheme for the amalgamation of the two ■institutions which will shortly he submitled for the approval of shareholders. The new institution will be called the National Bank of AiiMralasia, and have a paid-up capital of two millions, with ti nominal capital of five millions ! hy the readjustment and reissue of shares to tha present holders. —A us- N.Z.
