ALLEGED MANSLAUGHTER.
CHARGE AGAINST A LAD, By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, August 22. William Edward Ilart, aged 15. was to-day committed for trial on a caarge of manslaughter arising out of the death of Leonard Buchanan Cavanagh, aged 12, who was shot at Otahuhu on Nuurday afternoon. The evidence of deceased's brother, aged 11, was to the effect that when lie and deceased met accused and two other boys in the paddock, Hart, at a distance of 20 yards, said: "Charge," lifted the gun to his shoulder and ftreii.
Another hoy with Hart said the latter did not lift the gun right to his shoulder, but fired from 1 lip chest. Sergeant Harvey said accused, in a statement, said he put a cartridge into a gun on the road, and when he tired he forgot it was loaded. Hart pleaded not guilty, reserving his defence.
