TEACHING OB : THE CLASSICS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, August 21. At the Educational Conference, Mi. £. D. Broadhead, of the Professorial Board, presented a paper on the position and teaching of classical languages in secondary schools. After a long discussion, a committee was set up, consisting of principals of the secondary schools in which Latin is taught, to consider the question.
PUBLICATION OF C2 LISTS.
Wellington, August 21. The Recruiting Department states, regarding the publication of the lists of C2 and D, that no particulars o:' reservists' disabilities will be given. The names will be published simply under classification "Ci" or "D," as the case may be.
A LAND AGGREGATION PROTEST. Palmerston N., Last Night. The Cheltenham Dairy Company ; s annual meeting passed the following »esn>lution:—"That this meeting views with alarm the accumulation of land under single ownership in this and the surrounding districts, and respectfully urges on the National Government the necessity for taking steps to prevent the aggregation of land, which is considered inimical to the best interests of the dairying industry and the small farmers of Hew Zealand."
