WHITELEY CLUB.
PATRIOTIC CONCERT. A very successful concert was giv». last night in Whiteley Hall, under the auspices of the Whiteley Clilb, in axl of the funds for soldiers' comforts. Thero was a large attendance, the hall being paeked, many people being able to get only standing room. Some flowers were on sale during the evening, which netted the sun* of 15s !)d, and it Is expected that the total receipts will amount to over £2O. An excellent programme, arranged by Miss M. Cannell and Mr. RunSeU Grave, was presented, and the items were all received with much appreciation, encores being the order of the evening. Songs were given by Mrs. H. L. Richards, MissYYon?,u n?, the Rev, N. H, Papakakura, and Mr. P, Frederic. Butts were contributed by Miss Youns» and Mr. Frederic, and the Rev. Papakakrua and Mr. Cooper; and the Whiteley Choir, under Mr. A. Gray, gave two partsongs. Mr. R. Rockel played a 'cello solo, and Mrs. Cooper played two pianoforte solos, while a pianoforte duct was given by Miss G. Blanehett and Mr. R. Grave. The Rev. H. L. Richards contributed several elocutionary items. The accompaniments were played by Mesdames Frederic and Cooper and Mr. R. Grave. Prior to the conclusion of the programme, the Rev. W. A. Sinclair thanked those present for their support; and also on behalf of the Whiteley Club thanked those who had contributed the programme. The proceedings terminated with the singing of the National Anthem.
