The usual fortnightly sitting of the S.M, Court was held this afternoon, Mr. A. Crooke, SM., presiding. Judgment by default was given in the following civil cases:—Stratford Printing Company (Mr. lung) v. S. Pratt, claim ,t4 10s, costs 10s; Hunter and Lyons (Mr. P. Thomson) v. M. Loveridge, £5 ss. costs 16s, solicitor's fee 15s 6d; Whangltmomona County Council (Mr. Coleman) v. H. E. Hight, £2l 3s Sd, costs £1 3s, solicitor's fee £1 lis; same v. J. Prendergast, 8s Cd, costs ss; Hallcnstein Bros. (Mr. Fookes) v. A. Hamilton, £5 lis £d, costs 12s, solicitor's fee 15s Cd. On the application of the Registrar of Electors (Mr Stanton), A. E~ Bur-well was removed from the rolls, on the grounds that he was not a British subject, but an American by birth., The Patriotic Committee's meeting is to be held fn the Municipal Chambers on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock.
