Full particulars vri|l appear in n future issue. He was a foreigner doing business here but although he said he was loyal, he generally fought, shy of subscriptions to patriotic funds. Recently he was approached to purchase two is badges for the Copper Trail. After some skirmishing, the alien thought he would spike the guns of his questional uy stating he had four. This was palpably a falsehood, as only two persons were selling so, after No. 1 had been turned down, Xo. 2 tackled ' the proposition and after a long palaver, the man, who obtains a livelihood under the British flag purchased two, and then retailed these to others. A man who side-steps a shilling badge is a mean specimen of humanity but to get his money back by these means is playing it low down. The question is asked: The Mayor has issued a permit to certain people only to sell these Caa the foreigner or anyone else traffic in these bruises? * / A good attendance is desired at the annual meeting of the Stratford Patriotic Committee to be held next Saturday. Locality and time of meeting will be advertised. The Copper Trail Committees are nowgetting into their strides. To-m0n0,,, at i p.m., the country representatives meet, and in the. evening the town "colts" will assemble to go into ways and means of fiiring the first shot 'in what promises to be a keen and successful campaign on behalf of the Red Cross Fund. The borough workmen aro showing good progress in the re-laying of waterpipes in Broadway. This should bo shortly completed and then the way will be complete for the tar-macadam streets that all have been anxiously looking forward to as each 9ummercame round. A reminder is given of the Returned Soldiers' Association dance to be held at tho Kahoiiri Bridge Hall to-morrow (Tuesday) evening. A, good floor has been prepared, and with favorable weather a pleasant evening should result. A rea| acceptable article is a lady's handbag. A man with a multiplieity'of pockets can mnnaga very well hit a handbag is something of a necessity tor thel ndies. This being so, the question arises where to buy and when? Mr. C. E. James answers both questions in having on offer a very larpe and assorted variety, and now is the time to purchase, as he has marked these down to clear at lowest current prices.—Advt. To be a successful business man, one must have what the public wants and at a price that will satisfy the hunger. The success of C. E. James' jewellery warehouse lies in the good value he offers. Purchasers know from experience that goods secured here are all of the highest grade in value and at prices that defy competition. At tho present moment there are 1000 and 1 articles offering in gold, silver, and crockeryware that are gelling at pre-war prices.—Advt.
