In the latest hospital report the name of G. <T. Campbell (Kaupokonui) appears in the list of not severe cases. Second-Lieutenant Norman Little, sou pf Mr. J. Little, Sentry Hill, has been promoted to the rank of lieutenant. Mr. J. K. Lander, Westown, lias received further word that his son, Charles Lander has been transferred to Mechanical Transport Depot, July 30.
Mrs. Charlie Street Las received cable advice to say her brother, Private Geo. ftrctt, has been wounded for the- second time. His right arm has been amputated at the shoulder. Private Brett has been on active service three years last Koveuiber. He enlisted with the Australians, and has been awaraed the Military Medal for conspicuous bravery in the field.
At the conclusion of the meeting of (ho Eltham County Council on Saturday the chairman read a letter from the- council and his own business somesigning his position. Councillors expressed much regret, and it was suggested that the clerk should reconsider tlio matter. Mr. Tristram expressed liis pleasure at the very kindly expressions made by councillors, and said it was considered that the business of the council and his own busiuesss sometimes clashed and he would not hang on where ho was not wanted. Eventually Mr. Tristram, on his own suggestion, retired while the council considered the matter, the result being that his resignation was accepted with regret and 6teps are to be taken to fill the va« cancy.
