"Panthea," which commences a thrae night season at the Empire next Monday, is a powerful story of a beastly bargain that a man drove with a woman. It is the first of the dramas produced by a new company headed by Mis g Norma Talmadge, and this brightly vivacious star herself has the leading role. The 'heroine is a. wife, and she loves her husband so much that she seems to be prepared to sacrifice everything'for him. Her husband lies upon the bed of sickness, and the doctor has warned her that any disappointment will cause his death. Therefore it seems to her that her duty lies in getting her husband's play produced, but the. devilish bargain the future producer drives with lfer m&uos her pause. THIS AFTERNOON AND TO-NIGHT ALICE BRADY IN "THE GILDED CAGE." The leading roles are taJken by Alice Brady, Montague Love and Irving Cummings, so that nothing is lacking on that score. Alice Brady's, wonderful emotional power is seen at its beat in the role of the little Princess who will not sell herself for "reasons of state." Montague Love as the unscrupulous scheming Prime Minister whose desire for the girl is mixed with his greed of power,' docs superb work, and Irving Cummings as Prince Boris, the people's idol, j s handsome and debonair. The story has many new turns, and the suspense at times is almost unbearable. As an added attraction in support the 10th episode of the popular serial, "The Neglected Wife" will toe shown. THE PISK JUBILEE SINiGEBS. The Fislc Jubilee Singers, the unique success of whose season in New Zealand some years ago will be remembered by tmisielovers, are appearing at O'pun&ke on Tuesday the 13tfli. The enterprise is under the direction af Messrs C. A. White and Marshall Palmer, and the personnel of the company is well up to the standard fay which they attained previously, such a liberal measure of popularity.
