DISTRICT NEWS.

fv'AREA. (From Our Own Corespondent.)' Mr, R. Browne, on Monday evening, gave a very instructive address to a fairly large meeting in the school room at Waroa. By means of diagrams he showed the effect of the weather during the past three seasons on the producTaranaki, and then gave some valuable information on the best crops to grow, and how best to grow them, for the purpose of keeping up the flow of milk for the longest period. There can be no doubt that much good must result from these addresses by so practical a man as Mr. Brown, and it is a pity more farmers do not attend them. Even the best farmer has something more to learn, and carefully-conducted experiments are constantly bringing improved methods to light. As this was the last meeting likely to be held by Mr. Browne at Warea before going into camp, Mr. C. Parker, at the close of the address, stated that he (had learned much that was valuable from Mr. Browne, and wished him a safe and quick return, but did not think he would be in time to take an active part in the war.

Hr. J. Burgess, speaking as chairman of the Warea Daily, Company, said he was quite satisfied the company had received more than valun for their contribution, and that Mr. Browne was the right man in the right place. He wished him a safe and quick return to resume the work he was so well fitted to perform. Mr. Browne suitably acknowledged the good wishes expressed, and the meeting dispersed, all feeling that the absence of Mr. Browne would be a great loss ,to the district.
