UNREGISTERED ALIENS.
TWO YOUNG WOMEN BEFORE • THE COURT, Two young women named Glady Novak and Matilda, Sasariuli appeared in the Magistrate's Court, before Mr. A. Cr»ioke, S.M., yesterday morning to answer a charge tiiat K'ing aliens, they had failed to register within the time required miller the Aliens Registration Act. Both pleaded guilty, but stated they did not know they, were required to register. The facts as detailed were that the young women were sisters, and daughters of naturalised Germans and had been born in New Zealand. They had married men who wro aliens and in consequence were of the same nationality as their husbands. Their husbands were registered but the wives were not. The defendant Novak stated that she had seen a ease similar to that of her own in the newspapers and had subsequently applied to be registered. When the police had interviewed the defendants they had both pleaded ignorance. Applications for registration had Ibeen forwarded to Wellington, but they had been returned until the prosecution had been heard.
