NEW PLYMOUTH PIERROTS.
BIG PATRIOTIC EFFORT. A general meeting of tlie Xew Plymouth Pierrots was held on Thursday night for t!ie purpose of furthering plans in connection with the effort io ra.i>e C3OOO for patriotic purposes, half the amount raised to he devoted to the Soldiers' Comforts Fund, controlled by the Women's Patriotic Committee, anil the balance to the New Plymouth Patriotic Committee.
The scheme decided upon, which ha l ! been carried out successfully in other centres, is to canvass the district for (10.000 articles, each of which will he numbered. The corresponding number is placed in a coaled envelope, and these envelopes wil* l>e sold for Is each on the ilav on which the effort is to close. Filch envelop,:' will, therefore, entitle the nur-cha-ser to a nrizc. Rome very valuable gifts have already been promised, and mere are expected.
