FARM AND DAIRY.
THE? DAIRYINGS: INDUSTRY!BmEummsTm Australia. The* development off the dairying industry in Australia,' as compared with New Zealand -was the subject of comment by Mr H- E. Paeey, managing director of the New Zealand Bairy Association, who lias just returned:.- to Auckland from a liealitli trip to Queensland and New South Wales. He said that i Queensland; produced; very goodi butter ; considering the primitive methods of manufacture still in operation in many of tilie factories. Only one or two he had seen approached the standard of the (best' New Zealand factories in equipment. The dairying people, 'however, were awakening to the necessity of adapting modern methods, and considerable improvement should result Shortly. New South Wal& had dono wondera within the paslt two years, and now only 5 per cent of the output of the State was classed second grade, as compared with 50 per cent a fmw years ago. The New South Wales dairy farmers were intent on further improvement, and New Zealand, would have to look to her laurels in order to retain the position she had won in .the industry. This could ibe done only by the exercise of meticulous care and persistent effort both on the (part of the manufacturers and the farmer.
