RAHOTU.. (From Our Own Correspondent.)! At the Ladies' Guild social, last Friday night, Sergeant D'Arcy Penwarden wag. invited to be present a,t a welcome home and receive a small gift from his old friend;; in this district. His friends and schoolmates at Oakura presented him with it geld medal, which ialfahotu's usual orift to returned men.. Mrs. 0.. Pcnwnrden .made the presentation. Messrs Wright, Hughson, and Gibson spoke. All were very pleased to see Serjeant Pen warden looking so well after all he had been through and glad to welcome him bach- 'Songs were given by the Misses Mason and Rowlands, Messrs T- and M. Hujrhson favoring the company with a duet. Later supper was handed round and dancing continued. Mrs. Morrow, sen., and the Misses M. and E. Morrow are away on holiday ia the' Hokianga, district, Mrs. Morrow \isiting her daughter (Mrs Jenson).
Mr. Hart has made a start with the improvements to■ the storage room at the factory. Xrafc Wednesday there should he a little excitement here, as it U the annual meeting of the dairy •company. All are hoping for a bonus.
We have been visited tlie last two mornings with heavier frosts than have 'been known for many years.
