For s omc tiuie feat the Indies' Patri> otic Committee have been trying to work up interest in Mo Copper Trail project to replenish the funds to enable the lied Cross work to he continued. The men have now taken the matter in hand, and last evening a number attended, at the request 01 the Mayor, to discuss the question. Mr. .M'Miilan, in introducing tlfie subject, stated that it was desirable that the town and district should back up UlO ladies in their efforts on behalf of the Red Cross. All were awj nwat Auckland and Wellington wero nwjed in a challenge, and Tai-ana** was to" [ assist Wellington. All could assist in the common cause, t'ho only difficulty being to get the public thoroughly interested, and if this could .be accomplished there should he no fear of the result. All recognised the good work accomplished 'by the Red Cross workers, and 90 long as the necessity existed, co long should support be accorded. He thought that committees might be appointed and matters further discussed. A very full discussion ensued, all being satisfied that Stratford and district would loyally do their part in assisting Tarnnaki to make a good show in collecting for the found. It was pointed out tnat Saturday, Ootober 16, was set aside for a world-wide appeal, and it was resolved that a big demonstration be held in Stratford. To push on the work, it was resolved that the Stratford borough challenge the outlying districts and factories in raising fends, and to enlist the sopport of the Stratford Dairy Company in the work. A committee of three—Messrs J. W. Boon. J. S. Rowe, and H- T. Cooper—will wait upon the suppliers at the factory meeting on Monday.

The following committee, with power to add, was elected:—The MayoT (Mr. J. V?. M'Milbm) and Messrs J. W- Boon, C Martin, F. J. and J. S. M'Donald, W. J. Crawshaw, J. S. Rowe (organiser), and 11. T. Cooper (secretary). It was resolved to meet again on Monday evening, when various sub-commit-tees will be appointed. It should b9 understood that this meeting is for all interested, and ladies are particularly invited to attend.

Tbe annual meeting of the Stratford Manners' Co-operative Association, Ltd., will be held in the Town Hall on Monday, at 11 a.m. A good attendance of shareholders is desired, as business of impprtance is to be transacted. Particulars are advertised in this issue on the first page.

Word reaches mo that there is more than a probability that a cheese factory will be established in Midhirst. Some suppliers of the Midhirst Dairy Company are interesting themselves in the matter, and things progressed so far as to approach a proprietary concern to manufacture the cheese. The source of information seems reliable, and More mav be heard later.

There is yet ample time to purchase parlor games now offering at C. E. James' Fancy Warehouse. The long winter evenings will be with us for some time yet so pass these pleasantly in games, readings, chess or cards, all of which can be procured at lowest price at C. E. James.' It will pay you to purchase here, so do so when nei't in Stratford.*
