ANGLICAN CHURCH.
PROPOSED TARANAKI BISHOPRIC.
A meeting of the general committee of the Anglican clergy and laity of the Taranakl province was held at Eltham on Tuesday (the ArguS reports), in connection with the proposed Taranaki Bishopric, to consider what further steps are to be taken in connection with the establishment of the new diocese. The Rev. F. G. Harvie, New Plymouth, presided over a good attendance. It was resolved that, pending the appointment of a paid secretary to organise the endowment fund that the clergy and laity in the parishes, parochial districts and home mission districts should take every means possible to arouse the interest of the laity in the movement, and to organise the parochial machinery for collecting the funds that will be required for the purpose. The executive was authorised to obtain the services of an organising secretary as soon as a suitable person was to be found. It wfta tesolved to review the position Immediately before the general synod, which will be held about May in next year.
