INGLEWOOD.

(From Our Own Correspondent). The annual meeting of the Defence Rifle Club was held on Monday evening. Mr. O. Taylor (president) occupied the chair. The report and statement of receipts and expenditure shows a very satisfactory state of affairs. The season was opened with a credit balance of £8 17s and closed with a credit of '£l3 10s 3d. During the season eight matches against outside clubs were fired, Inglewood proving victorious four times. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr. Crossman; vicepresident, Mr. Spurdle; secretary and treasurer, Mr. Frewin; committee, Messrs Ta}'lor, Robinson and Martin. Much sympathy is felt for Mr. Albert Lang man, of Rugby Road. It appears he was working a circular saw and his hand accidentally came in contact with it, resulting in his losing three fingers and the thumb being almost severed. The sufferer was brought into Inglewood by Mr. Therkleson and attended to by the doctor, -who ordered his removal to the hospital, where he is doing as well as can be expected. Snow fell very heavily nearly all Monday morning, and by mid-day the whole country side was clad in about two inches of snow. Several local men have been caught in the last ballot; in fact, practically all that remained of the class.
