At the Police Court today, Thomas Padraw Cummins and Albert James Oryan were convicted on a charge of publishing in a monthly publication called the Green Ray a seditious utterance; with intent to incite disaffection against the Goremment of £» United Kingdom and to encourage the commission In the United Kingdom of an offence prejudicial to publio safety in respect of the present war—to wit, the crime of treason—by levying war against his Majesty, contrary to the War (Regulations, Each of the accused was sentenced to 12 months' hard labor. In reply to accuseds' counsel (Mr. "Dolan, of Napier), the Magistrate said he was prepared to state a ease for; appeal.
