In the latest hospital report the name of E. Bell (Hawera) appears in the list of those reported dangerously ill. The departure from Eltham of Mr. J. E. Broadfoot, the local postmaster, has been postponed until August 1. Mr. M'Gregor, relieving officer, at present stationed at Opunake, has been appoint, ed to Eltham, temporarily.—Argus.

Sergeant S. C. Foot, D-O.M. and bar, of New Plymouth, received notice of discharge at Hawera on Thursday. Mr. W. Eyre, of New Plymouth, who went from the office of the Union Company here to join the Wakatipu, has now been appointed purser of the Mararoa in the Wellington-Lyttelton run. In a list issued by the Base Records Office of New Zealanders who have had honors conferred upon them, the following Taranaki names are given:—Military Cross, Captain J. W. Ranch (Mr. J. Rauch, Hawera). Distinguished Conduct Medal, Corporal William G. Goile (,T. E. Goile, New Plymouth), and Corporal A. Neilson (Mrs. H. Neilson, Stratford). Officer of the British Empire, Major (Dr.) George Home (Mrs. L- R. Home, New Plymouth). The death is reported of Private Ernest Bunn, brother of Mr. L. Bunn, of Eltham. Private Bunn, who left with the 17th Reinforcements, was taken prisoner and remained in Germany some eight months, He subsequently procured exchange, and was sent to Switzerland, where it was understood he was recovering health and strength, but a cable was received yesterday announcing his death, which took place on June 7.—Argus.
