RAHOTU NEWS. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The afternoon tea of Friday was well attended, the ladies of the Guild giving the proceeds from the tea and the dance to the Church Army Fund, which | amounted to £9. The music was played by Mesdames AA'right, O'Neil, Harrison and Misses Byrnes, Chapman and Jones, Mr. Brown, Agricultural Instructor, and his assistant, Mr. Connell, were in the district on Thursday night. Mr. Brown always has a good attendance, whether he lectures in the daytime or evening. The road board office was well packed. The address was chiefly devoted to top dressing of pastures and spring and autumn feeding for dairy cattle. lie also had some very interesting diagrams of milking returns from other districts. In August Mr. Brown hopes to give a demonstration in the daytime, and this may be his lost visit, as he has been passed fit for service at the front. It will be found hard to replace him, as he seems to thoroughly understand the science of Rgrieulture. News has been received from Private F. ITannan and Gunner AA'oodhead. Private Hannan has been transferred to the motor cycle corps, and says this work is very exciting at. times, so quickly do they have to move about. Gunner AA 7 oodhead is classed Permanent Base, and is at present at No. 2, N.Z. General Hospital. AA'eybridge. so he will not be going back to the firing line. Word has also been received from 'Private J. Phillips, who is also well. The weather is very wet down hereWe have hardly seen any sunshine for over three weeks. Mr. A. Cameron, our local factory manager, has returned from his annua! holiday down the line.
